Urban Lab Platform Engages Citizens in Sarajevo’s Public Space Transformation
UNDP and partners launch Urban Lab to involve citizens in redesigning parks, streets, and other public spaces.

In February Urban Lab digital platform was launched with a goal to empower citizens to participate in the urban transformation of public spaces in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The platform was developed as part of the Initiative "My Street, My Imagination" implemented by the UNDP Accelerator Lab in partnership with the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo, the University of Sarajevo and the City of Sarajevo. Design and development were executed by the App Impact development team as a continuation of successful collaboration with UNDP on various projects of great public interest.

The idea behind this project is to initiate interactive public consultations, starting with the urban transformation of the public space "Hastahana" and subsequently expanding to other locations within the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo. Citizens will have the chance to contribute to the discourse and shape their urban environment's future through direct participation and sharing ideas about the renovation of public spaces such as streets, parks, squares, or neglected locations.

The project kicked off with interactive public consultations on the topic of urban transformation of the public space "Hastahana", and then other locations in the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo will follow in suit.

With the platform's help, a public competition was held for the creation of a conceptual solution to which many architects/architectural studios from all over the world applied.
To see the results of public international architectural competition for the design of Hastahana park in Sarajevo, for which projects submissions and voting was done directly through the platform, please visit www.centar.urbanlab.ba
