Besides health challenges for citizens and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Coronavirus pandemic also had a negative impact on the operations of many companies across the country. These events have additionally indicated the need for faster development of business digitalization in all branches of industry.

Guided by the fact that digitalization opens new strategic paths for the developing business sector, UNDP BiH started the DigitalBIZ project and launched the portal “Digitalna ekonomija”, created by App Impact team. Using the online tool “Digital pulse”, the DigitalBIZ project evaluates companies’ digital performance and readiness.

To know where business digitalization can take you tomorrow, you need to know where you are today. You can check the digital performance of your company by filling out questionnaires divided into six business areas:

1. Digital communication - active online presence includes a modern and comprehensive organization’s website with all the information about the company, products and services, contact details, and webshop if eligible. Check out the extent of your digital marketing, online sales, and internal digital communication strategy and how you can make further improvements in this area.
2. Digital customer relationships – research whether you adequately store customer data according to the Privacy Act and discover how customer relationship management software can help maintain communication with target groups and build contact with potential new customers.
3. Digital and employees - find out what role your employees play in establishing and maintaining the company's digitalization and whether the systems you use can help more effectively exercise rights and obligations and store information about teams. Otherwise, you can consider more comprehensive human resource management tools.
4. Information and IT security - check whether your business is at risk of increasing attacks on computer systems and how to implement an adequate set of security measures using data backup services.
5. Digital management of the company - determine the level of digitalization when it comes to storing your business data. Learn how business intelligence tools can help you draw valuable conclusions faster and make a more efficient decision-making process that can be key in determining the direction of a company's business.
6. Digital production and services - examine whether the production and provision of services within your company are sufficiently digitalized. Discover how investing in technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics reduces operating costs, in the long run, increases productivity, optimizes raw material use, improves product quality, and ultimately leads to a better customer experience.

Based on the completed questionnaires, the algorithm calculates the degree of digitalization of your business and then generates recommendations that you can use to take new activities and make strides to achieve further business success!

The project also foresees cooperation with organizations providing business development services to improve their offers to digitize business activities. DigitalBIZ will identify gaps in the digital capacity of companies in BiH and then implement support measures for the digitalization of enterprises, including training and mentoring and provide incentives for the digital transformation.

After successful cooperation with UNDP BiH on several previous projects, the App Impact team was selected to continue collaboration with this organization on the DigitalBIZ project by providing platform design and development services. With all the positive effects that this project brings to the business sector in BiH, we are incredibly proud to have worked on developing a system that will contribute to creating a greater degree of digitalization of the business sector in BiH.
