When we look back on a couple of weeks ago, it seems that the Coronavirus outbreak has changed the usual daily routine on a global level in a blink of an eye. Besides taking different types of measures to prevent the spreading of the COVID-19 virus, all organizations, no matter how big or small they are, found themselves in an urgent need to adapt their businesses to new circumstances. Every company is analyzing how the current situation will affect their organization's business strategy. Still, it is essential not to forget the most important driving force in the company - your team. In this article, we have shared some tips on how our company leaders successfully moved our day-to-day tasks to the work-from-home environment while keeping the strong teamwork spirit.

  1. Become agile
Modern business challenges have already required agile leaders to master their skills in dealing with uncertainty. During the Corona crisis, those skills become useful on another level because anticipating changes in the process became inevitable. Applying agile principles has helped us a lot when it comes to the smooth operation of switching to a remote work routine. Regardless of face-to-face or virtual meetings, we always make sure that every team member stays aligned with project objectives and has a clear overview of tasks that need to be done. Together, we can manage complex software and product development with a goal to deliver the outcome that meets all of our client's needs.
  2. Combine the right tools to increase the team's productivity
All our operations are based on cloud services, which allows everyone in the organization to access everything they might need from any place in the world at any time. Additionally, if you are using the right collaboration tools, switching to remote work becomes an easy process. While Slack serves as a primary method of our communications related to the specific projects, Jira and Bitrix24 help us to manage project tasks and different issues. For video meetings, we prefer to use Microsoft Teams that enables us an easy document sharing and better engagement of all team members.
  3. Clarify what has to be done but don't forget the benefits of a flexible schedule
Besides attending the scheduled team meeting, dealing with urgent tasks, and respecting deadlines, we believe you don't have to keep a fixed work schedule when it comes to regular daily tasks. Let your team members arrange their workday by themselves. Maybe they would like to start working earlier, or even later, take a break during the day to catch some fresh air or have lunch with their family and offset work assignments during the day. If you've built your organizational culture around mutual trust and respect, you can be sure that this kind of flexibility will bring additional benefits for everyone in the team.
  4. Keep regular all-hands meetings
We know that everyone in your team will stay up to date with information about the project they are working on. However, as some of your members may be concerned about the organization's challenges that Coronavirus outbreak has brought on a global level, be open and keep regular all-hands meetings with your employees. Sharing long-term and short-term goals of the company, as well as future strategies, will help them orientate around the current situation. Ask the team for an opinion on the measures you planned to set, let them present their point of view, and you can get useful insights that you can include in future steps.
  5. Provide your team with what might make their day better
Sharing regular news updates on Coronavirus global pandemic situation is what everyone does nowadays, but don't forget to share some useful information to brighten up the day with some positivity for your team members. Everyone in the team can share the interesting article, link to download free e-books, a fantastic movie they watched last night, or up-to-date course you can enroll together to level up your tech skills! Even during the hard times, learn to recognize the opportunity, face the challenge together and make the best out of it!
